About

Kia ora, I’m Jono. From the Brink Studios is my one-person design studio in Wellington, New Zealand, where I make 3D printable costume and prop files, mostly from the Halo universe.

How it started

I studied industrial design, so 3D modelling and CAD are second nature to me. I’d built five ODST costumes out of EVA foam before deciding to design a full hard-armour ODST from scratch in Rhino, built to be accurate, wearable and printable on a normal FDM printer. I shared that build on the 405th forums, people started asking for the files, and From the Brink Studios grew from there. You can read the whole story in my ODST build thread on the 405th.

How I design

  • Modular: parts swap and combine like real gear, from shoulder variants to the magnetic ODST helmet.
  • Made to print: parts are split to fit common print beds and keep sanding to a minimum.
  • Made to wear: every piece is designed around range of motion and how the suit goes together on a real body.

Where to find me

I’m not taking commission requests at the moment, but I love seeing what people make with the files, so tag me when you share your build. Questions? Get in touch.
